More Marijuana News in Latin America

This is an unprecedented time of change in the world concerning the legal status of marijuana. Most political jurisdictions in the world have this drug outlawed, but there are two which have recently legalized it right here in our country. This has caused a lot of commotion around the world, and rightfully so. The United States was once at the front of the campaign against legal marijuana, and two of these states have recently legalized the drug. Mexico and Legal Marijuana Lawmakers in the country of Mexico have recently filed a proposal for marijuana legalization. This makes Mexico the second Latin American country to attempt to legalize cannabis, with the first being Uruguay. While neither of these bills are expected to pass by those educated on the subject, it is amazing that the legalization of marijuana in Colorado and Washington has inspired people world wide to make a change. This idea is mostly due to the fact that Mexico has long expressed their discontent at US drug policies. The recent legalization in the United States did not help this position at all. While Mexico decriminalized small amounts of certain drugs in the year 2009, most people still believe that this will not lead to legal marijuana in Mexico. Even though it is not expected to pass, this is still a big step for marijuana activists everywhere as yet another...

There has been a lot of interesting new developments in the state of marijuana all around the world since the recent elections in the United States. Many things regarding the drug were changed here, and that has inspired other countries all around the world to follow suit. Particularly Latin American countries have taken an interest in this new state of marijuana and it seems they wish it to be the same in their countries. November Elections in the US Unbeknownst to few, there were many major changes concerning marijuana in the recent election here in the United States. While the biggest news of the election is certainly the re-election of President Barack Obama, many weed activists are concerned with other things. First of all, Massachusetts became the 18th state in our country to institute a medical marijuana program. This means that Massachusetts natives will be able to acquire their own medical marijuana cards and purchase cannabis from their local state sanctioned clinics. But more importantly, Washington and Colorado became the first ever political jurisdictions to officially legalize weed! Marijuana culture is in full swing over in these states where a new world idea is seeming to originate from. Hopefully, more US states and those in other countries will...

World Wide Changes Due to Legalization

Few people are still unaware that two of the United States voted to legalize marijuana in the recent election. Both Colorado and Washington are the first two political jurisdictions to complete legalize the drug. While medical marijuana programs go half way, these new laws for these two states actually regulate and tax marijuana. This has led to national and even international changes concerning marijuana and will surely lead to more of these changes in the future. Other States Ease Up Not surprisingly, many other US states have changed their attitude toward the drug in the past week. Just recently, the Seattle police department officially stated that a small amount of pot was not grounds enough for a search on its own. This town was rather famous for incriminating those in possession of marijuana and it seems they are having a change of heart. It appears that the results of the election in Colorado and Washington have had an effect on more than just these states. Hopefully, this will inspire a ripple effect in the rest of the country and perhaps even the whole world! Marijuana legalization used to seem like a far off dream, but now this idea seems like it could come to pass in our lifetimes! Affecting the Entire US These recent votes in Colorado and Washington have indeed had an effect on the entire United States....

Marijuana and D.A.R.E. Programs

Now that marijuana is more widely accepted in our country, there is a big question that we face. Will D.A.R.E. programs finally end their misinformation about marijuana to the youth of our nation? As kids enroll in these programs at a young age, they have a very big effect on them as they get older. While some would argue that this is a good thing, I’m not so sure it is. I think it is better to know the truth than to be misinformed about something. Hopefully, D.A.R.E. will realize how silly their campaign against marijuana is and quit lying to people about it. What D.A.R.E. Teaches Kids About Weed This program frequently lies to children about the effects of marijuana because of its outdated information. D.A.R.E. claims that marijuana is a substance that has absolutely no medical value at all. This flat out lie is the kind of thing that D.A.R.E. needs to change if they want to give kids the real information. After this, they go on to say that THC does have medical properties, which is funny because that is the active ingredient in marijuana. D.A.R.E. makes it hard for kids to ever really know the truth about this recreational drug. They claim that it does nothing but inebriate you, but this has been proven to be far from the truth with eighteen states now having...

More Positive Things for Cannabis in Recent Elections

All across the country, people are talking about new reforms that have been passed for marijuana. This was one of the most historic elections ever in regards to the drug as many new things were approved by their states. Most importantly, Washington and Colorado became the first political jurisdictions in the world to tax and regulate marijuana. This is the first time marijuana has been legal anywhere in the country since the prohibition started. Massachusetts also made the new by becoming the 18th state to legalize some form of medical marijuana program. All of these changes can only mean good things for all of you pot smokers out there. What This Means for Our Country Now that marijuana is legal in two states, many people are wondering how this will affect their daily lives. While not a whole lot will change, you will probably notice an increase in support of marijuana legalization as well as dispensaries if you live in a state in which medical marijuana is allowed. These recent changes are likely to have a larger effect in Washington in Colorado. Popular media in these two states has been reported as down playing this legalization as they are not quite sure what else to do with the situation. The rest of the country continues to report this breaking news as marijuana has not been legal in the United...

Obama After His Re-Election and Marijuana

After the recent election on November 6th, President Barack Obama was elected for a second term in office. This was obviously the biggest news for our country on this day, but pulling a close second were all the various marijuana reforms that passed. Massachusetts became the 18th state in the country to pass a medical marijuana program. More importantly though, both Colorado and Washington both made world history by legalizing and taxing marijuana! Federal Raids on State Clinics The one negative thing about Barack Obama is that he has had a nasty reputation of being the most active president ever in raiding marijuana dispensaries. While these places are legal on a state level, they are technically federally illegal. This means that the government has the freedom do whatever they want to these clinics and that has got to stop. Some of these awful raids seize property from the dispensary owners and claim it as their own. If Obama wants to get on the side of marijuana lovers, he is going to have to end this corruption in these federal raids. All we can do is hope until Barack Obama makes his first major move during his second term as president. I hope that he will have a change of heart this time and go through with his old promises. Why He Flip Flopped I’m sure that most of us...

Two States Legalize Marijuana!

As a result of the recent elections, there have been many changes in our country! Some of the most important of these changes took place in Colorado and Washington as they became the first US states to tax and regulate marijuana like alcohol. This is great news for any stoner in one of these states as you can now be free from all the persecution that you once had to deal with. This is one huge step in the right direction for the eventual legalization of marijuana in the entire United States! Making World History The interesting thing about the legalization of cannabis in these two states is that this is not just a part of US history. Colorado and Washington are in fact the two first political jurisdictions in the world to legalize the plant in such a way. By taxing and regulating marijuana, we can keep the drug off the streets and reserve it for those of age. Cannabis is no different from any other recreational drug whether you compare it to tobacco or alcohol. All three of these substances are known to be unhealthy, yet we consume them just for the way they make us feel. This is some of the most wide spread support that we have seen for cannabis in many years and yet, it feels like we all knew it was coming. With...

Yes on 80 Today in Oregon

Three states have serious marijuana initiatives on their ballots today. Oregon is the one that most people are saying is least likely to pass. But recent studies have shown that we are only behind the majority by a small 7% now! This means that Oregon residents still have a chance to make history this election day. If you still have not gotten up and voted, now is your time to do so. If you don’t exercise your right to vote, you are giving up the chance that you were given by the founding fathers of our country. Oregon’s Fate After Election Day Because of what has been going on recently in California, many people are afraid that the federal government will simply shoot down this idea and continue furthering their own agenda. This is definitely the worst case scenario for Oregon citizens because it means an exact opposite of what our ancestors died for. If the members of the state decide that one policy is good for them, this does not mean the federal government should be able to police these policies as they please. While I understand that they are leading the country, I think they could spend a little less time sticking their nose into state business like they do in California and other medical marijuana states. Perhaps there is some kind of compromise that we can...
