This is the interview that everyone has been talking about. Cheech and Chong were a famous comedy duo in the 70′s that were particularly famous for smoking marijuana. More to the point, Tommy Chong has announced that he now has prostate cancer as of June 2012.
While incarcerated for the sale of drugs, Chong first began noticing signs of the cancer around eight years ago. However, he was not properly diagnosed until “about a month ago.” His condition was revealed in an interview about decriminalizing the use and sale of marijuana.
I’ve got prostate cancer and I’m treating it with cannabis oil,” Chong said to a CNN reporter. “So legalizing marijuana means a lot more to me than just smoking a joint. I want to use cannabis to treat my cancer without being arrested.”
On June 13, 2012, Chong was interviewed by a woman named Cheryl Shuman. This was just after Chong’s diagnosis so the time couldn’t be better for Shuman’ a medical marijuana activist and one who claims to have cured her own cancer with cannabis oil. She shared this secret with a delivery system called the CANNAcig by RFMK.
It is in this interview that Tommy Chong discusses his time at Taft prison as well as “Operation Pipe Dreams.” Chong made it clear that he feels the environment at this prison was directly responsible for his cancer. His symptoms became immediately noticeable to him while serving time in prison.
Both Chong and Shuman have known each other for over twenty years in both the activism and entertainment communities. “I met Tommy Chong back in the 90’s when he was starring on “That 70’s Show”. Ironically, we shared the same publicist who arranged a visit to the set to meet Ashton Kutcher and the rest of the cast. We reunited when I launched the Beverly Hills Chapter of NORML in 2009. Tommy Chong and Cheech Marin both supported us by co-branding and launching Hey Watch This their first concert film in decades with the Weinstein Company. The collaboration was an amazing success,” says Cheryl Shuman. “I reached out to Tommy after hearing about his diagnosis so that I could share with him what I had learned about using cannabis oil to treat my own cancer. At the end of the interview, I presented him with a brand new CANNAcig with the same cannabis oil formula’s that I learned to make from Rick Simpson from the Phoenix Tears Foundation.”
Chong explained to interviewers that he no longer smokes marijuana. As marijuana is bad for one’s health, Chong decided to give it up and use purely cannabis oil to treat his condition. “Cannabis is a cure,” states Chong.
vCheech Marin, Tommy Chong’s long time partner in crime, recorded a series of comedy albums with Chong before their break out performances in “Up In Smoke.” This film was the first of many in the ‘Cheech and Chong’ universe, all of which chronicle the adventures of this hilarious pair. Despite their age, Cheech and Chong continue to tour and have shows booked for this coming August!
Tommy Chong’s success is not limited to the Cheech and Chong. He has made many other appearances in shows like “That 70′s Show.” Chong is also the author of several books like ‘The Chong: Meditations From The Joint’ which talk about his family business of homemade bongs, his arrest, as well as his nine months in prison.
Tommy tweeted some outstanding news just a few weeks after filming the interview. Basically, Chong’s doctor told him that most of his cancer had disappeared! Such things can only be described as miracles in the minds of many. Both Shuman and Chong have now apparently been cured using cannabis oil. Could this be the secret everyone has been looking for? This is certainly a must see interview. You can follow Tommy Chong’s progress on Twitter @TommyChong or on his iTunes podcast.
