There have been many changes going on in the United States these past couple of weeks. With all of the results of the recent November elections, it is easy to see why some people are confused at the state of marijuana in our country. States are now split on what they would like to do with the drug and this is sparking a lot of controversy. Let’s hope that other members of our country can sensibly follow in the footsteps of Colorado and Washington for a more peaceful tomorrow. Let the Smokers Smoke The federal government still seems hellbent on making the legalization of marijuana difficult, even though residents of two separate states have passed measures regulating and taxing the drug. But it is clear that this was not the result that the government wanted. This is why they are still trying to enforce their ancient laws on these people that have already moved on with the times. The fact is that the war on drugs is not working, and it never really has been. All this phony war does is arrest people for smoking marijuana while the real criminals get away. This is an unprecedented time of change in the world concerning the legal status of marijuana. Most political jurisdictions in the world have this drug outlawed, but there are two which have recently legalized it right here in our country. This has caused a lot of commotion around the world, and rightfully so. The United States was once at the front of the campaign against legal marijuana, and two of these states have recently legalized the drug. Mexico and Legal Marijuana Lawmakers in the country of Mexico have recently filed a proposal for marijuana legalization. This makes Mexico the second Latin American country to attempt to legalize cannabis, with the first being Uruguay. While neither of these bills are expected to pass by those educated on the subject, it is amazing that the legalization of marijuana in Colorado and Washington has inspired people world wide to make a change. This idea is mostly due to the fact that Mexico has long expressed their discontent at US drug policies. The recent legalization in the United States did not help this position at all. While Mexico decriminalized small amounts of certain drugs in the year 2009, most people still believe that this will not lead to legal marijuana in Mexico. There has been a lot of interesting new developments in the state of marijuana all around the world since the recent elections in the United States. Many things regarding the drug were changed here, and that has inspired other countries all around the world to follow suit. Particularly Latin American countries have taken an interest in this new state of marijuana and it seems they wish it to be the same in their countries. Few people are still unaware that two of the United States voted to legalize marijuana in the recent election. Both Colorado and Washington are the first two political jurisdictions to complete legalize the drug. While medical marijuana programs go half way, these new laws for these two states actually regulate and tax marijuana. This has led to national and even international changes concerning marijuana and will surely lead to more of these changes in the future. Now that marijuana is more widely accepted in our country, there is a big question that we face. Will D.A.R.E. programs finally end their misinformation about marijuana to the youth of our nation? As kids enroll in these programs at a young age, they have a very big effect on them as they get older. While some would argue that this is a good thing, I’m not so sure it is. I think it is better to know the truth than to be misinformed about something. Hopefully, D.A.R.E. will realize how silly their campaign against marijuana is and quit lying to people about it. What D.A.R.E. Teaches Kids About Weed This program frequently lies to children about the effects of marijuana because of its outdated information. D.A.R.E. claims that marijuana is a substance that has absolutely no medical value at all. This flat out lie is the kind of thing that D.A.R.E. needs to change if they want to give kids the real information. After this, they go on to say that THC does have medical properties, which is funny because that is the active ingredient in marijuana. D.A.R.E. makes it hard for kids to ever really know the truth about this recreational drug.
